#1. Vegan Avenger

As a young boy, Little johnny was exposed to gamma irradiated cattle meat. His father was upset and decided to protest against the local cattle farm… the farmers had kidnapped the dad and beat him to death. Meanwhile, the radiation had actually given Johnny super powers and he decided to avenge his fathers death against the meat industry!

Youtube and Graphic design

I would have never thought about looking for graphic design stuff on youtube. But why not? Looking around I have found several awesome presentation via youtube. I guess Youtube does have everything!
graphic design portfolio This is about a 4 minute portfolio presentation of somebodys work. It shows Logo designs, ads, fliers, posterwork, packaging design. Very well done!
another one Here is another video I had found. It is a lot shorter than the first one but still well done! What I like about this one is his color choice. Lots of yellows and reds.

graphic design magazines

Layers Magazine Here is a magazine that I had found online. This magazine is about Photoshop…It is pretty in depth! I have never looked at this magazine before but I have found it to be really well put together.

graphic exchange news here is another great resource for graphic designers! This E-zine is pretty well laid out. It contains stories, interviews, etc. The really cool thing is they have archives so you can research way back or just browse around.

I love fake magazine Whoah…A really cool concept that I can really dig…Fashion and art! I really love how the website is constructed. Very clean and straight to the point! You can very easily access back issues and flip through them…an you can even download PDF’s of the is magazine. very cool..I highly recommend you check it out!

web design resources

Looking around the world wide web for web design resources…I did manage to find some sites that are very helpful. Its amazing to know that you can find just about anything on the internet! I do not know how some people live without it…

web design resources is a huge website with 75 helpful web designs. everything in this website and links is everything you need to help you build a website. It has links to stock photo’s, tutorials, typography, blogs, etc. I am lucky to find this site because it is very helpful for inspiration and to help find out more info and tips on creating a website.

another website that I already knew about is gomedia I really love this site because it gives me great inspiration on what other graphic/web designers are doing right now. What I also love is the free brushes, and vector art that you can obtain there! (you have to look for the resources to obtain these). If you go there you will be amazed on the work being done today!

3 graphic designers

Believe it or not I really dont know a lot of graphic designers that inspire me. I do have a ton of artists that I admire but I could not think of anyone particular. But I did search around and found some Graphic designers that are amazing! I guess this is a start….

1. Francesco Mugnai I saw his website and I was amazed on how well designed it is! Its pretty simple layout but still amazing. His artwork varies from web design to photo manipulations. I love his choice of colors!

2. David Friedman What attracted my attention was his typography art of Darth Vader…I am a huge Star Wars fan and I am amused by what people are influenced by the films. Again a very solid website, with blogs about his art.

3. Nick Dewar I am a huge fan of illustration…and its nice to know some people use it in their designs. Nick’s designs are very clean and they look like they could be used for a variety of mediums (web design, paintings, rock poster art etc). The website is very clean and neatly organized…just like his art.

5 graphic designers that inspire me

Here are a list of graphic designers that inspire me. I have also included several artists that inspire me period!

 

1. Adam Hughes Is a huge influence in my artwork and illustrations. Everytime I see a new piece of art I am blown away…Adam Hughes pencils, and colors via photshop. His style has gotten more realistic…especially his photoshop colors. He is known for his pin-up art, but he is extremely talented!

2. Artgem I have found his artwork via deviantart. Again his colors and illustrations are too awesome! He is best known for his artwork for Street Fighter…He colors in corel painter and it is very semi realistic. Only bad thing is…he uses a PC!

3. David Airey Recently I was looking at different types of graphic designers. David is really known for creating logo’s. at his website he has very good articles about being a graphic designer…and 10 things to expect from your logo designer. check it out!

4. Tasso Believe it or not…I found Him through Myspace! Tasso creates very awesome designs through Adobe Illustrator. His style looks a lot like the film A scanner darkly. He even has some videos on how he creates his illustrations.

5. Vinh-Luan Luu I met Vinh last year when I was attending Wizard World Texas…We were both sitting in the same row. I saw his stuff and was really amazed! Its really awesome too that Vinh lives in the Dallas area. I really recommend checking out his art.

For my personal identity project? well since I am a very visual person. I am considering doing some real fancy illustrations with awesome colors and textures….thats the idea for now at least!

web 2.0

Web 2.0! what is it? Not quite sure myself! On Wikipedia it states that web 2.0 is more than just retrieving information…its about interactivity. Well it seems that this is the next logical step for the world wide web. it seems that one day the Internet we know is gonna change. What this means as a graphic designers? It means it we need to learn a new skill and to keep up with upcoming technology!

Why is web design important to my design career?

an artist does not have limitations. Although I have never thought of expanding my horizons artistically to do web designs…I know that it is very important in the graphic design field. Everyone is using the internet and people do look at websites everyday…It is very important that the websites need to look good, and maybe very artistic. I feel that web design is a necessary extension for my portfolio and understanding on what goes into web design. I personally know some freelance graphic designers who get paid really well for designing websites… this is a skill I must acquire to become successful in my field!
